These are some "alternative" pubs in Ieper you can visit:

• The gothic/newwave/electro pub "DEN DONKEREN HELFT" of Geert and Nancy (Elverdingsestraat 77; not far from the local jail). Maybe gothic is not your cup of tea but why not visit it? 77-punk, hardcore, new wave, gothic, industrial,... are all children and of Granddaddy Punk who was born in 1977. We are one big family! They have vegetarian (no vegan) snacks too: spaghetti, tacos, croque-monsieurs.
• The pub "DE 12 APOSTELEN" (d'Hondtstraat 18; one street away from the Vort'n Vis). This pub's interior is a parody of catholicism: Jesus and Mary are really everywhere here! Go to see this! They have vegetarian (no vegan) croque monsieur snacks.
• The pub "HET AARDSBISDOM" of Steph and Stef (Patersstraat 2).
• The official youthcenter JOC ("Jeugdontmoetingcentrum") (Neermarkt 3; near the big square). You can surf on the internet there.
• And of course the DIY-pub "DE VORT'N VIS" (Sint-Jacobsstraat 3). "De Vort'n Vis" regularly organizes alternative concerts and other activities.
